Whoever decided the cop should hook back up with his wife at the end of the movie SHOULD HAVE THEIR FUCKING BALLS CUT OFF.
They ruined what was potentially one of the most tragic, horrible and tortured movies I’ve ever seen and made it into a sick, sappy POS. Ok, they didnt’ ruin it, but it came damn close.
Some dipship said ‘oh, the audience is going to think its too dark, they aren’t going to like it, lets make the cop hook up with his wife’? Fucking retarded.
Perhaps if you read the book you will understand why he went back w/his wife. I loved both the movie and the book.
I thought it was an excellent movie until the end. Like you suggested, something was left out of the movie that would have made the hookup make more sense.
As it was added, it felt like an afterthought which really was out of wack with the rest of the flow.
I enjoy dark movies. Good guys don’t always win, everything doesn’t always turn out ok…
