Garrett>

hello

Suzan_>

Welcome to Sony Online Support. I will be glad to assist you.

Garrett>

I spoke with someone a little bit ago about this

Suzan_>

Hi Garrett.

Suzan_>

I'm Suzan.

Garrett>

'keith' said that the drivers were on the CD

Garrett>

the CD says otherwise

Garrett>

I just need a link for the USB drivers

Suzan_>

Garrett, I will be glad to assist you with getting the USB drivers.

Suzan_>

What is the Operating System that is installed in your computer?

Garrett>

excellent

Garrett>

windows xp...

Garrett>

does the program on the CD which 'installs' the driver install
windows xp drivers?

Garrett>

it explicitly states every other version of windows, and fails
to mention XP

Garrett>

I would assume that the Windows 2000 drivers would be fine

Suzan_>

The Windows XP has native driver support.

Garrett>

but I can't tell if it would install the drivers with 2000 not
being XP and all

Garrett>

yea, thats the story

Garrett>

lets assume for a second that it doesnt

Garrett>

and I need to get ahold of the driver

Garrett>

what do I do?

Suzan_>

It is not required to install the USB driver or the software
supplied with the camera to transfer the images to your
computer.

Suzan_>

Once you connect the camera to the computer you will
be able to view a removable drive under My computer.

Garrett>

pretend that I am already familar with all of that

Garrett>

how can this be the year 2006, with the internet and Sony
selling billions of dollars of high-tech equipment

Garrett>

and the website doesn't have a single driver as far as the
eye can see...

Garrett>

http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DIME/downloads/downlo...

Garrett>

I found that, seems to be a europe version of sony

Garrett>

claims that it is some sort of USB driver for all sorts of
windows, including Xp

Garrett>

but doesn't say which cameras...

Garrett>

a heck of a lot more than the US site at least

Garrett>

so,that is where I am, and I need some help

Suzan_>

Please give me a moment while I verify that for you.

Garrett> I bet...

Suzan_> Garret thanks for waiting.
Garrett> np

Garrett> lets assume that I do need the USB driver for
Windows XP
Garrett> can I use the Windows 2000 one?
Garrett> and if so, where do I find that?
Suzan_> You can install the USB driver from the supplied CD.

(Garrett begins to rip hair out slowly, sobbing and screaming
at the same time)

Garrett> for XP?

Suzan_> Garrett, it is not required to install the USB driver
to transfer the images from the Camera to the computer
with the Windows XP Operating System.
Garrett> yes
Garrett> I know that, that assumse the USB driver is
pre-installed
Garrett> lets assume that it isn't for a second

Garrett> and I need to download it
Garrett> or re-install it from an install disk (like the
windows xp install disk)
Garrett> I would need to know what file it is
Garrett> what the name is, at least
Garrett> or, I would need to download the driver from
the manufacturers website...

(Garrett's brain is throbbing with rage, wondering why
are these dipshits even pretending to not just be
reading off of the fucking sony.com website...)

Suzan_> Since the Windows XP Operating System has
native USB support, the USB driver for Windows XP is not available.

Garrett> FUCK YOU SUZAN FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU

(I’m just kidding about that last line, that sweet relief existed
only in my head)
FYI: the real slim shady is available online, FUCK YOU SUZAN
AND KEITH, worthless piles of rotting shit. USBDRVEN.EXE
can be found at the link I provided:
http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DIME/downloads/download…
And it does list Windows XP as one of the supported systems.
Seriously, that conversation made me wish I had a baseball bat
and was standing in the fucking call center in India smashing
shit left and right screaming ‘FUCK YOU SONY, FUCK YOU’ at
the top of my lungs…why do they even bother paying those
people?
EDIT: it turns out that the USB driver which was provided
at the Sony site wasn’t enough to install the drivers. I
actually needed the original .inf files from XP, so I
downloaded Microsoft Virtual PC, installed XP Home in
a virtual PC on the laptop here, installed Hamachi to
easily network my virtual PC on the laptop to the real
laptop, copied over the entire inf directory, pasted
into the laptop and insto-presto, what was broken
now works. Of course, this only happens if you
delete your inf thinking you’ll never need it again,
perhaps I’ll post it compressed here for posterity, eh?

Civil disobedience…

April 10th, 2006

You know how you pronounce words in English?  How the pronunciation is scatter shot, lifted from various other languages and corrupted left and right?

I pronounce Thailand 'thigh-land' because I don't live in thighland, I live in the United States.  In the United States, you pronounce th a certain way.  If I was Thai, I'd pronounce it however I would pronounce it, and write it with different characters.   I wonder what the Chinese word for 'China' sounds like…or the Thai word for 'Thailand', or the Russian word for 'Russia'…maybe you are starting to catch my drift?  The Thai don't give a fuck whether I call their country 'thighland' or 'tieland', because both are equally wrong…

I pronounce resume and resume differently, even though both are spelled the same.  Why?  God bless the english language…

What am I getting at?  I don't like the word 'album'.  I much prefer the sound of 'alblum' (even though the spelling looks off).  I think 'album' sounds retarded, I don't like saying it, I feel foolish when saying it, etc etc.  So I'm going into civil disobedience mode once again, and continuing my thigh-fight into alblum.

I'm not alone:

Results 1 - 10 of about 78,000 for alblum

Why?  Because I can: How is the english language made and evolving?  Usage.  It ain't a word until someone uses it, heheh…skeet skeet skeet!

A little housecleaning is in order….

April 7th, 2006

I’m sure of it. When is the last time you spruced up your computer? (I’m having Deja Vu eh?)
This is easy, painless, will cause your computer to boot faster and run faster. Some of these items take a good while, so you might want to visit this page nightly and do some of these things overnight…

Lets start with basics. You don’t need a dozen things starting with your computer, and you don’t need a dozen things running in the background. Startup Control Panel. That will put a little ‘Startup’ item in your control panel. Honestly, you don’t need anything booting with your computer. MAYBE A/V software, but that is about it. If you want to use something, you choose to load it…you don’t bog your computer/boot down with two dozen apps…(though if you’re on a laptop you might want to leave your point device software running, often it is a ‘program’ rather than drivers which operate it…)
Now that you’ve unchecked a billion things that didn’t look familiar, you’ve rebooted and noticed it only took 45 seconds instead of 3 minutes. Now its time to start deleting shit! Reducing your windows folder is a great place to start…just follow each step in that guide and you can free up a gig or two off your hard drive…Lets delete some more! CCleaner is a great way to root out some more junk, its a lot like MS Disk Cleanup but faster and more thorough. Just be careful what you check off…it will delete your IE history and lots of other things if you don’t take a close look at those checkmark boxes!

Now, we’ve deleted a WHOLE PILE of useless shit and freed up some HD space. So, lets make sure that new clean HD is in good shape. This one, you’ll want to run overnight…open up the start menu, type ‘cmd’ into the run box, and from the prompt type ‘chkdsk /f /v’. It will mention it needs to do this before windows loads. Go ahead (if its beddy-bye time) and reboot the computer. It will load with an unusual screen and scan each and every nook and cranny of your HD for errors (both software and physical) and either repair them or mark the space off limits. It should resume back into Windows by the morning…and once you are there, it would be a good time to run Defrag (start, all programs, accessories, system tools, Disk Defragmenter!). From the screen that pops up, hit ‘Defragment’. This will take a good while more likely than not, so go ahead and go to work, it should be done by the time you come home…

Alright…we slimmed the HD, cleaned crap, checked for problems and organized the remaining files…now what? Now, lets double-check the actual files…lets look for bad stuff (and I’m not talking about those weird photos you have either…) I’ve recently come across BitDefender online scan, and it is a pretty good one, with very comprehensive Trojan scanning (a Virus isn’t that terrible, USUALLY they are concerned with reproducing themselves, RARELY they’ll delete important things…a Trojan is much more serious, it is an open door for hackers to get direct access into your computer. As in, anything you know/do on your computer, they’ll have access to too…scary eh?) So anyways…BitDefender Online Scan (you’ll need to open that link with MS IE).

Now the bad news…you should probably do all of those things four times a year at least.

Happy computing!

(and I’m sorry if one of the things above completely trashed your computer (deleted an important windows directory, deleted all of your cookies, trashed your hard drive during the defrag, caused a hacker to panick and remotely start a format of your C: drive, etc etc etc)

All the ducks are lined up…

Libby…

Cheney…

Bush…

CNN sez so…

USA Today thinks so too…
And amazing, so does Faux News!

All of them are crooks. Incompetant crooks. Isn’t it time we removed them from office, hung them Mussolini-style, and let the crows handle the rest?

Haven’t we beat this dead horse enough? Someone grab a broomstick, THEY ALL NEED INTERROGATED!

Come on…leaking information that everyone knew was false in order to manipulate bolster public opinion.  I’m supposed to trust these people with my government money armed forces  life?

About those question marks…

April 6th, 2006

I had a little trouble yesterday with the blog, accidentally deleted the database, but luckily had just backed it up (I was hoping for the best and expecting the worst). Once I imported the backup, the ?’s appeared. I’ll see what I can do…

Microsoft Defender is the newer version of their spyware program, I haven’t used it in a couple months so I had forgotten about it, you can find it here : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?…

OfficeLive.com is now open to the public as well, if trying beta versions of an online office suite to create an online presence is your thing : http://officelive.microsoft.com/
