WalMart…
August 19th, 2006Just don’t do it…it is not worth it…
Do yourself a favor and rent “WalMart: the High Cost of Low Prices”. Main Street Movies in Jersey Shore has it.
Imagine you worked at an IGA for ten years, made decent money, had good health care. A WalMart supercenter moves in a town over and the three local IGA’s close because they instantly lost 30-50% of their business. Now, you put your application in at WalMart as there isn’t much else going on in the area any more. WalMart has their pick of the jobless, and then pays them $7 an hour if they are lucky, and gives them the option of completley garbage benifits. Oh, and full time employement is 28 hours a week. What else are you going to do?
More to follow…
UPDATE: If you see a WalMart commercial where they say they love the enviornment and want to protect it, it means they got caught fucking the environment and are now spinning damage control. If you see a commercial where they say they are giving back to the community, it means they are fucking communities. If they love their employees, they are actually fucking their employees over. WalMart = the Bush Administration when it comes to lies and spin…

I’ve known how you’ve felt about wal-mart for years now.
I’ve read articles myself and have a general idea of what type of operation it is. I mean, for any company to make its employees take part in the “walmart cheer” before starting their shifts (in view of the public) reminds me of something the Nazis would do. I came across one of these cheers in mill hall back in the back in the craft section. I was scared and thought at any minute I would be shot in the head for being a non believer.
I have to paint the picture though. John has $40. John can go to Wal-Mart and have a few items in his cart or go else where and only have a couple. The choice although wrong to some, is right for me.
*clapping hands* *jumping up and down*
I believe,
I believe,
the smiley face,
is smiling at me.
I think it is fine and good to shop where you need to when you can’t afford anything else, but I think the main problem was (is) everyone who can afford to shop elsewhere deciding that saving $.75 on a cheap floor lamp, $.25 on eggs and $.50 on a gigantic tub of cheesypoofs is worth fucking the rest of their community out of existance.
I know that we still shop at WalMart occasionally. WalMart has really changed the way things are (can’t buy a floor fan, motor oil, food and a pair of jeans just anywhere). It will be an interesting excersize trying to purchase the same range of items not at a WalMart store for an at least comparable price. I’m fully prepared to not worry that I could have purchased it for $.50 cheaper at WalMart, knowing that the reason it is cheaper is the people working there are slaves to their master…I think Kelley will still worry…
