Hi,

For gaming then you might be better off staying with XP, for everything else you got Ubuntu :P. To see how Ubuntu compare to Vista into many direction and how it stay a head of it look at the following comparison:

One of the first things I tried installing was Automatix, but apparently at the time there aren’t repositories yet for Edgy.
Its pretty amazing how fast an unpaid community works, because there is now an Automatix for Edgy (as of 10/14)!

There are only a handful of games I am serious about, but those handful I am pretty serious about! Battlefield 2, Guild Wars, recently Company of Heroes…mmm, mmm, good! Cedega looks very interesting! I’ve never heard of it, thanks for the heads up!

A couple of things, Garrett. Linux generally has poorer game support than Windows because the commercial companies aren’t interested in what they perceive as a very small market. That is somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophecy, of course, as the lack of games keeps gamers from adopting Linux to a great extent. If you’d like to see a good listing of games available for Linux in native form (not running in an emulator) take a look at:

To run Windows games within Linux, your best bet is Cedega :
