When I was a small child…
October 20th, 2006I really liked Pearl Jam. I remember listening to Vitalogy on a cassette tape, thinking Corduroy was the coolest thing ever.
I remember the first time I listened to No Code. I felt the same way everyone else thought, our groupthink, that it was an experimental album.
Time and wisdom have allowed me to realize that it is exactly where they left off with Vitalogy.
Hail, Hail = one hell of an awesome fucking rock and roll song. I think what changed was the band matured. They, perhaps, felt like pushing the boundaries past a three or four chord ballad or rock song. And, as well all know, the average attention span fits nicely around the vapid yet catchy sounds of our favorite's Nickelback (as in, I want my nickel back because all of these damn songs sound the same) or (insert pop sensation of the day).
