This is worth watching, if only for the gratiutious swearing…

Penn & Teller describe recycling as bullshit. 

So harvesting raw materials from the distributed location as compared to a single location like an oil well is more expensive.  Breaking this all down, it is simply a matter of money.  Resources, they are finite.  No way around that.  So, its down to money.  Let me tell you this:  everything is going to get a hell of a lot more expensive until a very cheap way to recycle EVERYTHING.  That is what happen when lots of people want a little something.

Perhaps at this moment, recycling isn't a positive money making scheme (yet).  However, it does reduce need to take new raw material out of the environment.  

I've thought that a good long term investment would be to purchase old landfills.  One day (assuming everything lasts long enough) I imagine a harvesting factory which squats over old landfills and sucks the resources out, automatically sorting and refining these resources back into a valuable concentrated dollar bill.

Its always about the money…  It doesn't make sense to subsidise the oil companies with billions of dollars of tax loopholes and benifits, while whining about subsidiing recyling 

Three times more trees now than in the 1920's…after nearly every last square inch of the east coast was deforested TO THE LAST BUSH AND BIT OF SCRUB.  And did these ass hats ever visit a virigin paper factory?  Belching stench and using god knows how much chlorine to bleach the raw fiber?

Basically, don't simply accept what I've said.  Don't accept what they've said.  Look into it a bit.  Read.  Think.  Look long term.  Think beyond the almighty dollar bill.  Wonder.  Consider.   Decide for yourself.  Reasons for Recycling…what a loud asshole…looking at anything at this moment, and this moment only, never makes sense.  "Recycling doesn't make economic sense at this exact moment, therefore it is bullshit".   Here, I have a word for Penn and Teller:
