A couple sad things…
March 4th, 2007Well, how about we start with a couple updates? I recently discovered the front page of Pollywogs wasn’t rendering correctly in Internet Explorer, and I believe I fixed it by reducing the number of posts displayed on the front page from 10 to 4. Next, I added ‘Challenge’ to the site, so that when you comment, it asks you to do a little simple math to verify that you aren’t a spambot. I have to allow each new comment from a new commenter, so I was spending a little too much time rejecting comment spam recently…
Now, onto the news…

Oh clusterfuck nation, how I wish to emulate you…
“When the financial markets factor all this in — and they really haven’t yet — I think we’ll see a lot more of what they like to call “downside action.” These things are all connected. The housing bubble was set into motion by $10-a-barrel oil at the turn of the millennium. Perhaps as much as half the jobs created since then have been in house-building, house-selling, house-buyership-enabling, house furnishing, and other things house-related. The whole final suburban blow-out enterprise has been a fantastic blunder. Now it’s unraveling and the only “performing” loans will be the ones paid to the accounts receivable department in hell.”
Maybe this isn’t such a bad idea…

“The Bush-Cheney regime is America’s first neoconservative regime. In a few short years, the regime has destroyed the Bill of Rights, the separation of powers, the Geneva Conventions, and the remains of America’s moral reputation along with the infrastructures of two Muslim countries and countless thousands of Islamic civilians. Plans have been prepared, and forces moved into place, for an attack on a third Islamic country, Iran, and perhaps Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon as well.
This extraordinary aggressiveness toward the US Constitution, international law, and the Islamic world is the work, not of a vast movement, but of a handful of ideologues–principally Vice President Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Lewis Libby, Douglas Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Elliott Abrams, Zalmay Khalilzad, John Bolton, Philip Zelikow, and Attorney General Gonzales. These are the main operatives who have controlled policy. They have been supported by their media shills at the Weekly Standard, National Review, Fox News, New York Times, CNN, and the Wall Street Journal editorial page and by “scholars” in assorted think tanks such as the American Enterprise Institute. “
And check it:
” The Bush-Cheney regime came to power with the plans drawn to attack the remaining independent countries in the Middle East and with neoconservatives in office to implement the plans. However, an excuse was required. Neoconservatives had called for “a new Pearl Harbor,” and 9/11 provided the propaganda event needed in order to stampede the public and Congress into war. Neoconservative Philip Zelikow was put in charge of the 9/11 Commission Report to make certain no uncomfortable facts emerged. “
So that is why none of the official documents refer to WTC 7 being brought down in a planned demolition (among who knows what else ’someone’ decided we should or shouldn’t know)…Zelikow is a shill, a little pocket bitch just like everyone else in the Bush administration…
” (Viking, 2004), James Mann reports that when Richard Haass, a senior aide to Secretary of State Colin Powell and the director of policy planning at the State Department, drafted for the administration an overview of America’s national security strategy following September 11, Dr. Rice, the national security advisor, “ordered that the document be completely rewritten. She thought the Bush administration needed something bolder, something that would represent a more dramatic break with the ideas of the past. Rice turned the writing over to her old colleague, University of Virginia Professor Philip Zelikow.” This document, issued on September 17, 2002, is generally recognized as a watershed document in the War on Terrorism. Because Philip Zelikow’s significant involvement with the administration of George W. Bush, some questioned the propriety of his position as executive director of the 9/11 Commission, which examined the conduct of George W. Bush and Condoleezza Rice.”
Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job! Mission Accomplished!

Finally, we clearly know what is wrong…what is terribly, terribly wrong…now, what do we need to do to correct the situation?
This short list will simply restore some of those things that used to seperated the United States from Nazi Germany. This will restore some of the lustre to our tarnished reputation, but it doesn’t go to the core of the problem. I guess only Congress can do that, we’ll see how much they are willing to rock the boat…Congress needs to throw down the Bush administration, but do they have the stomach for that fight? Do they realize that history hangs in the balance?
Are you a dorkus?
March 1st, 2007If so, maybe you like to check the weather? How about will your own customizable weather map? Well, if you a true dorkus, this will r0×0r j00 s0×0rz…
Err, I really like it, a lot. For example, I zoomed in far enough and saw that it just started raining in Keating around 6:55PM…and then I zoomed out to see the whole storm in its entirety. You can change the transparency on the fly, change the overlay to cloud cover, loop the images over time for some seriously fine tuned weather reporting…who needs some dipshit at some local dipshit TV station to tell you it is going to rain tomorrow, when any fucking idiot with two eyes can see that plain as day by looking at the radar map themselves in 1/20th the time without all the commericals and pointless blather…
Aww, it’s the MPAA…who loves you, baby?
March 1st, 2007“For some of these activities, you consider them illegal, yet you have done them at least on occasion. Please tell me why you have gone to a file sharing site and downloaded a movie for free, even though you consider it to be illegal.
Please be as specific as possible.”
Ahheh…heh…hehehe….AHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
Ok, I’ll level will you, Mr. Man…
“Just because some billion dollar jackhole managed to suck some politician off until there is no such thing as Fair Use DOESN’T MAKE IT WRONG, IT JUST MAKES CRIMINALS OUT OF OTHERWISE HONEST AND GOOD PEOPLE.
FUCK THE MPAA! FUCK THE RIAA!
IF DOWNLOADING A MOVIE OFF A TORRENT IS THE ONLY WAY FOR ME TO ARCHIVE A DIGITAL COPY OF A DVD I PURCHASED ONTO MY COMPUTER, I AM GOING TO FUCKING DOWNLOAD THE MOVIE.
I HATE THE WAY THE MPAA AND RIAA ARE TREATING THEIR PAYING CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Yes. I said it. Right to their face. You can too at mymoviemuse.com…go take their surveys and let them know what you think..
What set me off? I bought a copy of Idiocracy off of Direct2Drive.com…now, I just purchased a HD version of a movie, I own it forever, I can watch it over and over and over…except, wait…how do I watch it on my TV? What am I supposed to do now?
I actually lied to the MPAA. I don’t download stuff from Torrents (very often). But I do believe in FAIR USE, so I found a little bit of software called FairUse4WM (ask teh google) which unlocks the DRM off of DRM protected files. It was actually quite easy to do, you can use it on any bit of DRM WMV or WMA that you own (including Napster, for example). Since you own it, you should be able to do whatever THE FUCK YOU WANT WITH IT. Now I can do whatever the fuck I want with my movie. I actually have a DVD in my DVD player as we speak, waiting for some quiet time to watch from the comfort of my couch.
Thinking back, it is better to not purchase or help fund this form of terrorism that they call DRM and DMCA, MPAA and RIAA…it is better to support artists and media which is released free from the shackles of the prevalent corporation attitude: “You Are A Criminal, And Although You Are Also Our Customer, We Are Going To Treat You Like The Common Scum You Are ™”
“Marijuana, the wonder drug”
March 1st, 2007http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/03/01/opinion/edgrinspoon.php
“A new study in the journal Neurology is being hailed as unassailable proof that marijuana is a valuable medicine. It is a sad commentary on the state of modern medicine that we still need “proof” of something that medicine has known for 5,000 years.
The study, from the University of California at San Francisco, found that smoked marijuana was effective at relieving the extreme pain of a debilitating condition known as peripheral neuropathy.
It was a study of HIV patients, but a similar type of pain caused by damage to nerves afflicts people with many other illnesses including diabetes and multiple sclerosis.
Neuropathic pain is notoriously resistant to treatment with conventional pain drugs. Even powerful and addictive narcotics like morphine and OxyContin often provide little relief. This study leaves no doubt that marijuana can safely ease this type of pain.”
Amazing. I do not understand why lying by the government is considered acceptable. Fucking government should be run like a scientific lab, with research, logic, reason and facts ruling over all. It makes me want to drive down to Washington and VOMIT on the White House and VOMIT on Congress. The Supreme Court gets a free pass because their job is to interpret the shit out of the other two, which they should be doing in a logical method. Oh wait, the Supreme Court is packed with whatever wack job the President of the time could shoehorn in? VOMIT all over the Supreme Court as well…
No. This is a better way, I agree. The governemnt implements policy based on fallicy, racism, popular misconception, lobbying power, simple greed, graft and corruption, pandering to extremes…you’re right, our current method is a much better system. What was I thinking? How could I even consider a change…
It is nice that there are fewer slobbering corporate cocksuckers in Congress at the moment, but the whole system is so rigged against the best interests of the actual citizenry…fuck…
Maybe we’ll have a strong, steady and lasting reaction to the foolishness of the past ten-odd years, the past hundred years, the past ten thousand years…maybe this is the beginning of the Great Awakening, when slowly the blinders are pulled out of our clutching monkey paws, pried off of our simple and easily fooled animal eyes. Maybe truth and logic are slowly going to surplant spin and emotion. Perhaps we won’t lock up hundreds of thousands of people using drugs recreationally, they instead will have easy access to real scientific information about their actions and real health assistance to deal with whatever problems they may have. Maybe we’ll all realize that war is nothing more than simple murder and is unacceptable under any condition, unacceptable in any situation. Who knows, maybe everyone will realize that it doesn’t matter if their neighbor lives five yards away or five thousand miles away, they are still your neighbor and should be treated exactly as you next door neighbor is treated: not with bombs and guns but with understanding, acceptance and patience.
Wait…nah, I’ve seen the future…
