Pan’s Labyrinth…
September 11th, 2007You know what a fairy tale is? Since I’m not sitting across from you talking at the moment, I put my emphasis on the word ‘is’ in the previous sentence…
Pan’s Labyrinth is an amazingly crafted, amazingly executed fairy tale. I don’t mean to demean the words fairy tale in any sense…I highly recommend it to anyone (well, it can be brutally violent, so it would be a judgement call as to whether to allow a tot to see it)…it really tugged at my heart strings…
I tend to shy away from fantasy movies but I had recently heard that this movie was really good.
It was really, really good.
I absolutely loved this movie too. And it was a fairy tale (which can be done beautifully - The Princess Bride, The Never-Ending Story), but one for adults. When you think of it, most fairy tales have brutality, cruelty, wickedness, harshness in them. They can be highly disturbing and thrilling to children when read or told. That being said, I don’t think I would let anyone under 13 see this movie. But I highly recommend it.
