New York, NY (Rotters)- In a vote of 3,100,000 to 100,000 yesterday, the members of a massive nationwide progressive political action group voted overwhelmingly to place a second ad in the New York Times this weekend condemning the U.S. Congress for wasting time condemning them over a previous ad condemning General David Petraeus as “General Betray us”. The ad implies that both houses of Congress, in particular the leadership, are “Ass-kissing little chickenshits”, a term which has been used to refer to General Petraeus by his superiors in the past.

The inspiration for this satire was the fact that Congress took the time to condemn me, personally, along with the other three million or so progressives who make up MoveOn.  Fuck you too, Congress.  I noticed that Casey voted to condemn me.  Fuck him.  Fuck Specter too.  Minimum effort cunts.   They have time to fiddle while Rome burns, eh?

Belated.  Kelley and I have been kicking around the idea of a regular entry to the old blog.  A weekly post, a little thing, just a little reminder that change isn’t a bad thing I guess, something small we can do to drop pebbles in the pond, hoping the ripples spread far and wide.  I didn’t post it on Friday, hadn’t realized Kelley had sent me a finished product…so belatedly here is the initial entry of ‘Fight the Man’:

I (Kelley “eco-freak” Socling) purchased my bags from Eco Bags a couple months ago and I really enjoy using them. Unfortunately, I have forgotten them a few times and had to use plastic (icky-poo) but I’ve now learned to keep them by the door, and I may even purchase some small ones from Gaiam to keep in my purse.  They do take some getting used to, and people may stare, but in the end we walk out of the store with smiles on our face knowing that we are making a difference.

Speaking of using reusable grocery bags, the last time we were shopping at Weis we saw a middle aged woman also using reusable bags.  It was a strange thing, thinking that someone else actually made a choice, a decision, a small one…to make a small change.  It was a strange feeling that washed over me, akin to euphoria.  I felt like a revolutionary, a co-conspirator, and I’d just been flashed the sign by a passer-by.  I think the feeling was multiplied a thousand-fold due to seeing such a thing occur in Jersey Shore, a veritable den of inequity when it comes to moderate, sensible rationality.

It was like seeing a flower bloom in a desert.

My Sept. 11, 2001 vs My Sept. 11, 2007 and a few other things that make you go “Hmmmm”

Oh how things change in 6 years…..

2001: Many of you know that on Sept. 11, 2001 Garrett and myself were headed to New Orleans for a trade conference…we only made it as far as Pittsburgh. We were stuck there for 3 nights. When I look back on it now it seems utterly surreal and unimaginable. As we watched the tv (w/out sound) in a small airport restaurant before boarding the plane which was to take us to New Orleans, we couldn’t figure out what was going on, where were those buildings located?, surely it must be in a foreign country, the WTC, where is that? We seriously did not know…and we didn’t really care, we had a plane to catch. So on the plane we went. Our plane never took off that day. It was only after we disembarked the plane that we found out what was going on…..those buildings, NYC, the Pentagon, Pennsylvania, terrorists…. mass hysteria ensued.

I remember feeling sad, just so sad and confused. How could anyone possibly do something like this? Why? It just didn’t make any sense at all. One thing that stands out to me now is that I was actually proud (mini-vomit) of President Bush as he made his speeches regarding this attack. It felt like he was bringing us together as a nation and he was going to make sure that “they” weren’t going to get away with this. I felt like he was sincere, that he was actually a good guy…. If someone told me that our government knew about these attacks beforehand, there is no way I would’ve believed them…no way.

Boy was I wrong!

2007: President Bush is a complete Fucking Asshole! He fooled us into thinking he was a decent “All American” guy who was going to take care of business. He preyed on our weaknesses and made promises he never intended to keep. He’s tried to keep us in a permanent state of fear (along with the help of his major media-slaves), fear for our lives, fear for our country…the terrorists, OMG they may attack the US at any moment….coming to a city near you…
I don’t know how you feel but I think the President’s (and other members of the government) actions in the past 6 years speak for themselves. What happened to Osama, Al Queda? Are they in Iraq? How did we go from fighting the “war on terror” to giving Iraqis freedom???? How the fuck did this happen? How could we let this happen? What is really going on here?

I’ve been researching and reading quite a bit about September 11, 2001 & this so-called “war on terror” and there are just way too many signs and red flags that point directly to the white house. They knew it was coming and they did nothing about it. They needed a “Pearl Harbor“, a reason to invade Iraq, take Saddam down so they could get their greedy hands on all that easy Iraqi oil. This was the perfect opportunity, the perfect “in” under the guise of spreading democracy. It’s complete fucking bullshit!!! Since when does our country care so fervently about spreading democracy???? If it really is all about democracy (wait, wasn’t it about terrorists…or was that last week…oh well) then why don’t we invade N. Korea or other communist, suppressed countries…why don’t we ‘free’ them as well, while we’re at it????

Our government (Bush & Co.) is up to no good. Something is going on, they’ve got plans……

Did you hear about the nukes that were “accidentally” flown from North Dakota to Louisiana on August 30th? Well, in response to that, our gov’t has decided that on Friday Sept. 14 the Air Force is going to ground all it’s fighter jets and bombers…they are calling it a “stand-down”. ‘What the Fuck’ you say????? Apparently they are going to be reviewing safety procedures. Sounds a bit odd eh? Grounding all jets and bombers, all at the same time…during a time of war, does that sound like a good idea to you?
What else is going on???? Well, assuming nothing tragic happens on Friday while ALL of our fighter jets are grounded, in October United States Northern Command is planning a 5 day martial law exercise it has named “Vigilant Shield 08″. Martial law exercises??? Yea, and apparently state and local agencies are going to be involved as well. They are trying to pull the wool over our eyes with the mention of hurricane Katrina and natural disaster response…..

“Northern Command also admits in the same article that they have pre-scripted mission assignments coordinated with FEMA to implement martial law under the pretext of disaster response.”
“There is no question that Vigilant Shield 08 is either government preparation for the implementation of martial law or a way for criminal elements within the government to distract emergency responders in order to conduct a false flag terror attack as a pretext to actually implement martial law and engage in foreign war. On September 11th, 2001 there were drills run by NORAD including Vigilant Guardian which served as a way to ensure that there was no adequate military response to the hi-jacked planes. A similar scenario unfolding with Vigilant Shield is not out of the question.”

You know what happened in London the last time they had a major disaster exercize?

Also, it’s been reported that the US Dept of Treasury is going to conduct a disaster drill to prepare for a potential “economic crisis”. Where does Dick Cheney have all of his money???
Back in May, the Bush Administration released a directive which basically declares that

“…in the event of a “Catastrophic Emergency” the President will be entrusted with leading the activities to ensure constitutional government. The language in this directive would in effect make the President a dictator in the case of such an emergency.”

I think Bush & Co. are getting all their ducks in a row…
Buckle up people, it’s about to become a bumpy ride with no end in site.

“I don’t remember what your email is in reference to, however I do have some feedback for you: the Google EULA screen is DRIVING ME CRAZY! I can’t find it in the ‘add/remove applications’, can’t find it in the Startup menu, can’t find it anywhere and it starts EVERY TIME THE COMPUTER BOOTS and has NO WINDOW CONTROLS. It would be like selling you a TV that every time you turned the TV on it BLASTED a commercial at high volume, and there was no way to turn the volume down, no way to change the channel…nothing you could do about it at all.

I have been buying these Optiplex machines because they DON’T have a pile of crap on them, and I really like that. I remember buying Dells that came with this absolute pile of vomit from McAfee which was incredibly hard to uninstall, you had to do things just right, close this antivirus, uninstall this control center, and do it in some unknown correct order to allow a simple add/remove programs…stuff like that wastes hours of my time, probably days of my time over the course of a year, and really makes me feel like finding a new computer supplier.  Thankfully Dell stopped shipping that nonsense before I lost my patience with them.

I’m fairly happy with the value we get from Dell, very happy with the build quality and the lead time on orders, but if those ‘little things’ were nailed down and I never had to worry about it again, I would be a satisfied customer.

Is it that hard to NOT pre-bundle the computer with software? Or to have a simple and FUNCTIONING ‘add/remove programs’ entry? Is that too much to ask as a customer?
